He's the best friend you'll ever have!
How can you begin an intimate relationship with the God of the Universe? It begins when you give your life to Jesus Christ. Just as there are physical laws that govern the physical universe, there are spiritual laws which govern your relationship with God. Submitting to these laws allows Jesus Christ to become Lord of your life. And when that happens, He replaces your old power with His supernatural power for living. What are these spiritual laws?
"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16 NIV
Simply knowing that God loves you and has a plan for your life isn't enough. There are things which block you from God's love, which brings us to the next law...
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23 NIV
We are created to have a relationship with God - the same kind of relationship Adam and Eve had with God before sin entered the world, before they decided to go their own way. Since then, all mankind has chosen to go his own independent way. At times, this self-will is expressed in active rebellion against God. Other times, it is passive indifference, but however it appears, this self-will is what the Bible calls sin. The result of this sin is separation from God. (Romans 6:23) Many people try to reach God through their own efforts, such as living a good life, philosophy, or even religion. But human effort cannot bridge the separation between God & man which is caused by sin.
"But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8 NIV
God bridged the separation between us and Him by sending His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross in our place - to pay the penalty for our sins. Not only did Jesus die for us, but He arose from death, never to die again. Jesus answered,
"I am the way and truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
John 14:6 NIVKnowing the facts of these three laws, however still isn't enough to make you a Christian. It takes action on your part, and that action is the fourth spiritual law.
"Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin." Romans 3:20 NIV
To receive Christ, you must open the door of your heart and ask him to take over the control of your life, and you must willingly turn from your sin. By an act of your sincere will, you simply say, "Jesus I want you to take control of my life and forgive my sin." And if you really mean it with all your heart, He will.
